Peter the Cruise Ship
Holland America Line’s Captain Hans Mateboer has been writing stories for many years. While working with children on board the ships, he realized there were few books available about ships and the oceans. He felt a strong desire to tell stories that would create an interest in the amazing and wonderful world of the oceans, and the adventures of those who sail on them.
This book is about real situations and real places written by an expert who has been at sea for many years. This makes it stand out from almost all other children’s books which are written by authors who researched a subject to fill a market need.
Teaching and sharing experiences will come far more natural to children when following a pattern which is similar to the way the mind of a child works. This book achieves this by frequently and freely jumping between fiction and reality.
Travel with Peter the Cruise Ship on a voyage of adventure as he sails across the world’s oceans with Rusty, Tim, Teddie, Slick, Gulp and Push and discovers the value of friendship and teamwork. Peter sets sail and meets his friends at sea. During a storm they have to help ‘Rusty’ who can not handle the high waves anymore. Later Peter, in a hurry, drops his anchor on top of Fluke the Whale and needs to apologize.
